Tagging friends on social media is a great way to connect with others and capture memorable experiences. But what if they don't want to be tagged? Encourage your learners to take responsibility for how they may affect the digital footprints of others.

  • Define "digital reputation" and identify examples of social media posts that can have a positive or negative effect.

digital footprint:
a record of what you do online, including the sites you visit and the things you post; it can also include things that others post that involve you, such as pictures or comments
digital reputation:
what people think about you based on what they see online (social media, public information, photos, etc.)
sharenting:
posting comments or photos of children on social media that show excessive or sensitive details about their lives
